Latch Key Staff
2022-2023
Latch Key staff are responsible for the children in their classroom on a daily basis. They are required to pass background screenings, complete continuing education hours, as well as preservice orientation each year. Our staff is responsible for 9-14 children at all times. They must create and carry out age appropriate daily lesson plans. Our floaters go where is necessary all day long. They help with restroom breaks for children, gathering supplies for staff, help with decorating the hallway with children’s artwork. Floaters also fill in when staff needs to be out.
Our staff and floaters interact with the children on a daily basis, they form bonds with these children and enjoy spending time with them regularly. These young adults are sometimes the safe place for these children to build that relationship with and open about stuff that is going on in their young lives. Many times these young adults do not realize the impact they are making in the children’s lives and the children do not realize the lasting impact they are making on our staff.
As anyone knows that works with children, we must be flexible with our planning and activities.
All staff members are student workers working through the Federal Work Study Program at Howard Payne University. This helps reduce the cost of payroll the program is responsible for.
